Little Mexico Restaurant at 1923 W Whittier Blvd offers a straightforward, no-frills take on Mexican dining with an emphasis on seafood and classic dishes. This spot leans into fast casual vibes but still maintains enough comfort to sit down and enjoy a relaxed meal with friends or family. It’s the kind of place locals drop by for a flavorful, familiar meal without fuss, especially those craving Mexican seafood options combined with traditional staples.

The atmosphere reflects everyday Montebello—unpretentious and lively, with colorful posters and music that add a bit of local flavor without overwhelming the space. It’s not polished to perfection and could use some upkeep, but it feels like a genuine neighborhood joint where the focus is on the food and a community feel rather than fine dining decor.

Seafood lovers will find plenty to explore here, from the shrimp cocktail and shrimp tacos to mariscos served inside a coconut. The menu offers broad variety—everything from molcajete ranchero to fajitas mixtas and posole. Regulars seem to appreciate the crunch of the chips and salsa bar, and the hearty shrimp dishes stand out as a common favorite. For those new to Mexican cuisine, the prepared cactus and grilled fish and chicken are approachable picks that bring something a little different to the table.

The best time to visit is likely during lunch or early dinner when the kitchen is fresh with a variety of dishes and the atmosphere feels spirited but easygoing. Service tends to be warm, though it can sometimes come off as just adequate—this is a place where food and price point take priority over polished service. Prices are reasonable, making it a good spot for casual meals without stretching the budget.

Families, groups of friends, and locals seeking straightforward, robust Mexican seafood and grill options will enjoy the inviting, down-to-earth vibe here. Don’t expect fine dining finesse or quiet ambiance—think more of a busy community spot where the food and relaxed environment take center stage.

First time here and we will definitely come back. This is some of the best Mexican food we have ever had. The chips they bring to the table with the salsa are super crunchy. The shrimp cocktail was fantastic and stuffed full of shrimp (need to add tapatio and ketchup though) and the fajitas were delicious. Fun atmosphere too with fun posters on the walls and music playing. The only thing I didn't like it's that there was no a/c and it was pretty toasty in there.

First time having food from Mexican restaurant. The interior and ambient of the restaurant is cool and good. Mexican food is tasty and delicious. Had fish and chicken grilled. Its really yummy and good. The best part is cooked catcus leaves. Having such is first time. Liked a lot. Serving and decoration of the food is cool.prices are also reasonable.

I always give great reviews. But when you come to a restaurant you will always try to keep it simple, especially if order the popular portions. Like rice beans vegetables and meats. At this point you, how can you fail on an enchilada plate. Dry rice. Bean ok and the sauce, horrible straight from a can. At least try to add or improve the sauce. Asking for no spicy or how you want to place an order and the response is that how it come is mind blowing. That for me is bad service. Knowing that everything in that kitchen is set up to just add to the plate. Do better little Mexico.

This was my first time eating here. Food I give it 5 stars; it was delicious, fresh and priced right. Service was ok. The only thing that was lacking is a good cleaning/scrubbing. The place can use some tender loving care to make it more pleasant.

One of those special places with Mexican food that has a good Flavor. Here you can find from seafood to molcajetes and menudo. All day, everyday. Music playing on the speakers and clean tables. Servers are very attentive and as soon as you get here you’ll get FREE salsa and chips while you wait for your food to be prepared.
